Suboxone Therapy Program

For Opioid Addiction and Opioid Use Disorder

Parnell Healthcare provides a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program for patients struggling with opioid addiction. We utilize the medication Buprenorphine in the form of trademarked drugs such as SUBUTEX, SUBOXONE, ZUBSOLVE. When taken as directed, studies show that Buprenorphine combined with counseling, and lifestyle modifications provide patents with an excellent chance of controlling their addiction and moving toward sobriety and a drug free life.

How our program works

People who struggle with addiction to opioids such as heroine, or pain pills, get extremely ill when they don’t have their drug of choice or can’t get their “fix.”. This sick feeling is known as “withdrawal” and it can be debilitating and paralyzing. The craving for the illicit drug can be uncontrollable.

Buprenorphine in the form of Suboxone, Subutex, or Zubsolve reduces withdrawal symptoms and the cravings by tricking the patient’s brain into thinking they have the illicit drug without the associated “high.” A heroin addict taking Suboxone can have a relatively normally day free from fear associated with illegal drug use.

To be completely honest, we do not refer to buprenorphine as a “cure” for opioid addiction. It is however, a powerful tool. Our Suboxone Therapy Program gives patients the power to control the monster of addiction. When taken as prescribed, and in conjunction with counseling supports, and lifestyle changes, the patient has the opportunity to address the underlying causes of their addiction and maintain sobriety and a drug free life.

Program Steps

Step One

All patients undergo an initial evaluation during which medical history is established and addiction struggles are identified. It is necessary to be 100% honest with your doctor. This is a judgement free office! We are here to help you! What you tell your doctor is private information so, don’t be afraid to speak freely.

Step Two

A treatment plan is formed based on your individual needs. Counseling, either private, faith based, or professional will be strongly encouraged. Necessary lifestyle changes will also be identified and encouraged. Lastly, medication (buprenorphine) in the form of Suboxone, Subutex or Zubsolve will be prescribed. Patients return to the office at least every 30 days for evaluation and progress assessment.

Step Three

Reduction! Over time and at a pace you are comfortable with, the amount of Buprenorphine you take will be reduced. Don’t worry! You will work with your doctor to determine the best time to reduce your dose of buprenorphine. The goal, slowly, over time, is to not take any buprenorphine and live a healthy life free of drugs.
